A Cold Winter's Night: Gift Ideas-Day 17

If you guessed from yesterday's post that I LOVE almost anything peppermint-you're right. For whatever reason the only thing I can't stand are the peppermint disc candies, weird I know. Everything else peppermint goes. So you can imagine how excited I was to stumble upon Williams-Sonoma's peppermint North Poles. These are peppermint sticks dipped in chocolate. They are awesome in cocoa or even warm milk. My favorite though, of course, is using them with their peppermint cocoa. You can NEVER have too much peppermint. The North Poles are the inspiration for today's gift idea. This is a quick gift that you could put together for a neighbor or to give someone when they stop by unexpectedly with a holiday treat for you. I placed three peppermint sticks together and tied them with a piece of brown raffia. FYI: The sticks are wrapped individually which is really convenient. Next I placed several large marshmallows in a piece of saran wrap and tied them shut with some narrow red satin ribbon I had lying around. Both of these along with a packet of hot cocoa mix were placed into a cello bag and tied with a red satin ribbon. Here is a shot of the back of the bag.
Doesn't the tag scream coziness? I adore it and it was so simple! This is one of the projects we made at Convention this year.

  • I started out by cutting the tag out with the Sizzix Big Shot from Chocolate Chip card stock. I folded it on the score lines and tucked it under the precut flap. (HINT: All this is done for you on the die-simply crank it through the Big Shot and it comes out ready to decorate-so cool!)
  • Next I tied a 9" piece of Old Olive Grosgrain ribbon through the hole in the tag and tied the ends together in a knot.
  • I adhered a 2 3/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Merry Moments Designer Series paper to the front using some SNAIL adhesive.
  • Then I stamped "From our house to yours" in Chocolate Chip ink on a piece of Real Red and Very Vanilla card stock
  • The wide oval punch was used to punch the image from the Real Red card stock. The small oval punch was used to punch the image from the Very Vanilla card stock.
  • I then adhered the Real Red oval to the front of the tag using SNAIL adhesive. The small Very Vanilla oval were adhered to the Real Red oval with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Here is a shot of the tag once it's open. Perfect space for a warm holiday sentiment. Enjoy!
