Things I Love: Gift Ideas-Day 16

Today's idea combines two of my favorite things: cute stamps and peppermint bark:) The images shown in today's gift idea are from the new set, "Things I Love." I received this set for FREE when I attended convention this year along with 3 other sets-how cool is that? Membership has its' privileges. I found these neat boxes at my local craft store. They have a clear window on the lid so you can see the goodies inside. In this case I included some homemade peppermint bark. (I will be sharing a gift idea for the bark ingredients in a few days-so keep watching:) The box was a bit plain for my liking so I cut

and scored a strip of retired Designer Series paper to go around the box. I actually used two strips and overlapped them at the back so it wouldn't be seen. I used Sticky Strip to do this as it is
a bit stronger than other adhesives. (HINT: Scoring the paper beforehand allows it to wrap around the corners a bit more easily. A bone folder is the perfect tool for this.) Simple steps like this one go far, it gives the box a finished touch as opposed to leaving it plain.

  • For the tag I wanted to mimic the look of notebook paper so I cut a piece of Confetti White card stock and used my Spiral punch along the left side.
  • Next I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the title in Melon Mambo, the purse in Dusty Durango, the shoe in Bermuda Bay, the chocolate in Chocolate Chip, and the smaller text in Basic Black ink. The heart was stamped in Melon Mambo on a separate piece of Whisper White paper, cut out, covered with glue and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds-love, love, love Dazzling Diamonds! It was then popped up with a Stampin' Dimensional.
  • Once my stamping was complete I used the fine point of my Basic Black Stampin' Write marker to create the circle in front of the image. I wanted the page to appear as a "to do" list and the circles would be where one would check off items upon completion.
  • I wanted to emphasize the chocolate since that was what was accompanying the gift. I did this by creating a frame with some Designer Series paper. First I punched a circle with my 3/4" circle punch. Then I centered that negative space (punched out) with the center of my 1" circle punch and voila...a circular frame was created.  I adhered this around the chocolate image using my 2-Way Glue Pen.
  • The final step was to back the stamped Confetti White page to a piece of Bravo Burgandy card stock, using SNAIL adhesive, to tie it all together.
  • A pretty Very Vanilla grosgrain bow completes the "package". The tag was attached to the box with a glue dot.
