A Little Something for When the Weather Outside is Frightful

With the fall  holidays already half way through and winter fast approaching, today's post features a quick and easy gift to make.

I bought these mugs at IKEA. If you have an IKEA around I strongly encourage you to take advantage of their products. They have MANY items that can be altered and decorated quickly and inexpensively.

I started by cutting snowflakes from the white Decor Elements vinyl sheets with my Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cut Machine. These were adhered directly to the mug. The tag was created in Word with Word Art. I found this the easiest way to round the text. The circles are also from Word Art and I just made them different thicknesses. I printed them out on white cardstock and cut punched them out with a scallop circle punch. The front and back were adhered together using SNAIL adhesive. LOVE this product. The stamp of the steaming  cup was the perfect embellishment for the center. I stamped it once directly onto the tag and again on a scratch piece of paper that I cut out and "popped" up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here's a close-up of the back of the tag and the poem. These were also printed directly from word. I changed the RBG code of the font color so that it would print in the retired color Riding Hood Red. I so Hope that they bring that color back. It is the best shade of red. I took a snowflake stamp and stamped it in Riding Hood Red but stamped it once on a piece of paper so that it would be a lighter shade when it was stamped on the tag. (HINT: This is a great way to make your inks go farther. Most people stamp straight from the ink pad to their paper, but by "stamping off" you can 1-2 lighter shades to work with.)

The contents of the cup consists of a cocoa packet, mini marshmallows, and four mini candy canes. These are wrapped in cello bag and tied with a red satin ribbon. After punching a tool with the smaller hole punch of the Crop-A-Dile, I adhered the tag with white embroidery floss.
