A Baby Shower

Today's post has some adorable ideas for baby shower gifts. I'm not sure how I started the tradition of these letters, but it seems like every shower I attend or help with, the moms ask for these. I just think they're so cute and personal. I've created them for boys as well as girls.
These were for a really good friend of mine that I've actually known since college. We were pregnant together 3 years ago with her first and my second. Now we're expecting together again too.
They have picked ZOE for their daughters name which means "life."

To make these letters just go to any craft store and chose the letters of your liking.  There are tons of styles and sizes to chose from now. Then simply select coordinating paper to cover each letter. I try to match the Nursery theme or in this case the bedding. (Here are the letters I did for my own boys to give you a masculine idea:)
  • I start by tracing the letters upside down onto the back of the paper with a pencil.
  • Cut them out carefully with a good pair of scissors. I use these.
  • Next I cover the front of the letter with Modge Podge, you can buy this at any craft store, and firmly press the paper onto the letter making sure to press out any air bubbles. (TIP: Don't worry if the paper hangs over the letter a bit. You'll fix it in the next step.)
  • After the letters have COMPLETELY dried, flip them over again and trim the excess paper with a Hobby Blade. After this is complete I take sand paper or a file and sand all around the letter to really make it smooth and get rid of any extra paper along the edges.
  • Wipe off any excess sanding residue and cover completely with Modge Podge again. For this step I tend to like the Satin Finish Modge Podge.
  • I embellished the letters with coordinating Satin and Grosgrain Ribbons. The flower on the "O" was created by tying a piece of Linen Thread onto a Sherbet Designer Button and adhering it to a Very Vanilla card stock circle punched out with the 3/4" Circle Punch. This was layered onto a Pretty In Pink Textured card stock flower punched with the 5- Petal Flower Punch. And finally punching out a piece of Bravo Burgandy card stock with the Scallop Circle Punch. Stampin' Dimensionals were attached to give it some depth and placed onto two petals cut with the 5-Petal Flower Punch, in Certainly Celery card stock, that had been trimmed and adhered to the letter with Mini Glue Dots.
The other thing I LOVE to create for a baby shower is a scrapbook
layout. I got this idea from Becky Higgins and pretty much have replicated it from how she did it. The great thing is that you can use leftover scraps from the letters to create this project so that the two coordinate.

This is a 12"x12" double layout that guests will sign and then "mom" can place directly into the baby's album.

Here is a sign just to let guests know what to do and where it will end up.

And a close-up of the journaling title at the top of the layout.

And finally...the favors. These are the ones I made for the shower. I took the Baskets & Blooms die and cut it out from Pretty In Pink Textured card stock. The labels were made from scraps from the letters and Card Stock Vellum. I stamped 'ZOE' with the Just Perfect Alphabet set. The labels were attached to the basket wit white embroidery floss.

The inside was filled with Strawberry Whoppers tied in a white Tulle circle.

Here's a picture of the finished baskets.

I hope I've shared some cute and creative ideas for you to use. As always...
