HSS Inspiration Challenge #11

Good Morning Stampers! Welcome to the next challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments. This week we are showcasing an Inspiration Challenge. We encourage you to take this picture and create accordingly. Your project can be based on the shapes, colors, beach theme, seashells, summertime, etc. Whatever inspires you-

Here's what I was inspired to create. Now for you veteran Stampin' Up! customers, I know you're thinking, "What is she doing using these retired colors?" Well for those of you who missed the exciting announcement last week Stampin' Up! is renovating their color line. They are bringing back some retired colors, keeping some old colors and introducing a handful of brand new colors. The new line-up is so much more appealing and instead of five color families there will be only four. So much easier to work with! For this card I thought it would be fun to use some of these colors that will be making a comeback in three months time.

  • I started with a Kraft card stock base (FYI: Kraft is coming back as "Crumb Cake" and this time it will be an actual ink color as well as the card stock, YIPEE!!)
  • I cut a piece of Designer Series paper for the upper background. (FYI: This piece was from the paper pack that coordinated with the Baja Breeze, Red Riding Hood, and Pacific Point In Colors. So although it is no longer available in three months there will be BRAND NEW coordinating paper available for these colors.)
  • Next, I stamped the flower image from Pocket Silhouettes onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock in Baja Breeze and Old Olive classic inks. (TIP: To create the lighter images I inked up the stamp and stamped it once onto a piece of scrap paper and then applied it directly to the Very Vanilla card stock.) I love this image because it reminds me of a Georgia shore where the grass grows really high along the coast. I always think of the beach when I see it for some reason. The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig was essential in the placement of the floral image. More and more I'm relying on this tool to get my images perfectly placed.

I'd love to see what inspiration you take from the photo. And don't forget to stop by and see the other designers' creations here and here. Until then...
