A Spooky Tree and What to Do With Scraps #2

I know you're thinking..."okay, I've heard of Christmas in July, but Halloween in May?" One of the good things about being pregnant is the nesting feeling. Which for some weird reason I've had lately. I have a pile of projects next to my desk that I need to complete and this was one of them.  Last summer while in Utah I visited a craft boutique and saw a similar tree with Halloween ornaments on it. Then my cousin and I saw this tree at a local craft supply store and agreed we could make the "ornaments."  I procrastinated on buying it and when I finally went to get it, it was 40% off, SWEET!! (I think it was the week of Halloween.) Anyway it has sat on my to complete table since then. The funny thing is that when I finally made the "ornaments" it took me all of an hour.

I used the Batty For You set and stamped the image in Versa Mark onto Whisper White or Basic Black card stock. Then I used black or white embossing powder on it. This is how I did the all black (cat and spider) and all white images (skeleton and ghost).

For the colored images I did it a bit differently. First I colored the image with markers and then stamped it onto the Whisper White card stock. I really wanted to emboss it so I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the image with Versa Mark over the colored image and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. I used the 1-3/8" Circle Punch to punch them out.
The backs were punched from scraps with the Scallop Circle Punch. This is another great way to use scraps. I ALWAYS try to use up my scraps with punches first. I cringe a bit if I have to pull out a fresh sheet for one punch:( These were adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals to add some depth, a hole was punched and a piece of embroidery floss was used to hang them from the branches.
So I have one more Halloween decor complete and ready to go now. Only 7 months late or 5 months early, depending on how you look at things. With a new addition due around that time I'm definitely glad I got it done sooner than later. I hope this inspires you to tackle a project you've been putting off and as always...
