HSS Sketch Challenge #29

Good Morning! This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a Sketch Challenge. Here's the card I created.

I started with a Basic Black textured base. Next I cut a piece of Newsprint Designer Series paper from the collection. LOVE LOVE LOVE this collection! I ripped a piece from the corner. Next I crumpled a small rectangle of Cherry Cobbler card stock and ripped a piece from its corner as well. These were attached to each other using SNAIL Adhesive.

For the focal point I took a larger square of Cherry Cobbler card stock and used my NEW Scallop Trim Corner punch and Scallop Trim Border punch along the edges. This was the first time I had used the two together, and I obviously need some practice, but I really liked how it wasn't perfect and it cut the same scallop on each side so I left it. Just goes to show you that imperfection is ok:) I stamped the "my friend" sentiment, from the Because I Care set, in Cherry Cobbler onto a piece of the Newsprint Designer Series Paper and punched it with the Curly Label punch. (FYI: Have you seen the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog? It shows you what punches can be used with certain stamps by outlining the images in the catalog so there's no guessing. So easy and genius!)
Next I stamped the word "thank you", also from the Because I Care set, in Early Espresso onto Old Olive card stock. The last touch was to make my own brad with the Build-A-Brad set. I stamped the heart from the Things I Love set in Early Espresso ink and assembled and attached the brad. I've had this kit for a while and can't believe this was the first time I had used it. Now that I know how easy it is to use, I'll be making a lot more. The entire layer was adhered with the help of Stampin' Dimensionals.
We'd love for you to join us over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week for our challenge. Until then...
