HSS Color Challenge #27

Good Afternoon! I apologize in getting this post up a day late, but it has a lot to do with this guy...

and starting kindergarten this week. I have a new appreciation for all the parents of my former students and what they endured...filling out emergency cards, reading classroom procedures, getting them to school on time, etc., etc. It's been fun watching him transition to this next step in life.

Don't you just love the first day when everything is brand new? So fun! Another fun thing is the challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week. (How's that for a segway?) This week we have a brand new color challenge.

I'm more of an earth tone kind of girl so these colors really were a challenge to me, but I absolutely adore them separately and really have been itching to play with the new Daffodil Delight.

I started with a Crumb Cake base and ran a piece of Tempting Turquiose through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder. Have I told you how much I LOVE this folder? I know that was rhetorical, but I really do.
Next I stamped my hydrangea image from the hostess set Because I Care, onto Very Vanilla card stock in StazOn Jet Black Ink. StazOn is a solvent ink so that when you are doing things like watercoloring it doesn't smear like a water based ink would. I colored the image in with Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise Watercolor Crayons and used my Blender pen to, well, blend it. After the image was dry I added touches of yellow from the YoYoYellow crayon, which has since retired, and cut the piece into three sections. I added a torn piece of Melon Mambo which I had crumpled in my hand to the back as well as a 3/4" strip of Daffodil Delight which I had torn the edges of. Linen thread was added to one end to add some texture.
The Melon Mambo piece was adhered with glue dots while the Daffodil delight strip was attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. I then added two layers of Stampin' Dimensionals to the hydrangea strips to raise it above the Daffodil Delight layer.

The final touch was to punch a piece of Melon Mambo card stock with the Modern Label Punch punch and stamp the flowers with Melon Mambo ink and the "thank you" sentiment in Basic Black ink over it. This was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals as well.
