HSS Technique Challenge #31

I have been dying to try the Shaving Creme Technique and this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments it's the Technique Challenge, yea! If you're not familiar with this process there is a great tutorial at Splitcoaststampers that you can view here and follow .

For my card I started with a Pear Pizazz card stock base. Next I trimmed a piece of Whisper White card stock and adhered it with SNAIL Adhesive. Meanwhile I did the Shaving Cream technique on a piece of Whisper White card stock. (HINT: My husband only had the gel type of shaving cream. It did the job, but I think if I'd had the traditional Barbasol or Colgate shaving cream it would have been easier.) Next I added a few drops of Bravo Burgundy and So Saffron reinkers to the shaving cream. After covering my card stock and letting it dry, I cut the card stock into 6 separate squares. I then stamped my image, from the Fifth Avenue set, in Early Espresso ink. (TIP: The Early Espresso ink smeared a bit as I adhered the squares to the card so I would recommend using StazOn ink which won't smear because it's a permanent solvent ink.) The squares were adhered and I added some linen thread with a green rhinestone brad from the Circle Ice collection to the center for some pop. This is a simpler card, but I had never attempted this technique before so I didn't want to do too much and swallow up the shaving cream effect.

TIP: A huge benefit to purchasing Stampin' Up! ink pads is that you can buy reinkers for them instead of buying a whole new pad. Simply squeeze a few drops of reinker onto your pad and it's instantly "juicy" again! Reinkers come in almost every classic and craft stamp pad color we carry.
