HSS Inspiration Challenge #128

Well today is the first challenge since we've returned from convention. Yesterday was back to reality for me, laundry (lots of that), dishes, fighting kids, ahhh, at least I enjoyed a little break at convention.
This week we were asked to come up with a project inspired by the famous PCH. We actually recently moved from Orange County and were literally 15 minutes from PCH. It is an incredible drive through Laguna Beach, Corona del Mar, Newport Beach and on, GORGEOUS!

Yesterday we went for lunch at Newport after my favorite guys picked me up from the airport. The one thing I remember the most from it were the bicyclists. There were many out enjoying the sunny CA day. That was my inspiration for today's card.
For this card I started with Crumb Cake card stock and embossed it with the Chevron embossing folder. Next to add the "sand" look I spritzed it with the Color Spritzer in Chocolate Chip and More Mustard.
To get the towel "in the basket" I stamped my image onto Whisper White card stock and then placed a stamped piece of acetate over it. I used my exacto knife to cut a slit above the basket and rolled a small 1"x 1" piece of Pool Party DSP to mimic a towel. That was tied with white baker's twine and placed into the slit. And guess what? This was one of the FREE sets we received at Convention! That's right FREE!!

One quick tip before I say goodbye... You'll notice that the sentiment on the card is not the sentiment that goes with the stamp image. So how did I do that? Masking. I simply placed a post-it over the sentiment and stamped my image. Then I used my Stampin' Write markers to color the sentiment of the other stamp and added it below the bicycle image:) Don't feel that you are "locked in" to using the sentiment that is on the stamp.
